Old Events:

THIS FUNDRAISER EVENT IS COMPLETED NOW. WE HAVE RAISED $125. THANKS TO ALL THE GOOD HEARTS WHO DONATED FOR WESTMEAD CHILDERN'S HOSPITAL.

Original Event: Since 1983 the Evandale Village Fair and National Penny Farthing Championships has built up a reputation for holding the most competitive Penny Farthing races in the world.

The century ride is a Penny Farthing tradition, dating from the 1880's. 100 miles (162km) in one day.  A century takes riders most of the day to complete with the first riders finishing mid afternoon and the last racing the sun home. Riders may also opt for a 100km ride (metric century).

What Happened? This year, I couldn't be with my fellow penny-farthing riders to do the century ride at Tassie due to unavoidable circumstances.  It is an yearly event which I never wanted to miss as the century ride is an ultimate test of mind and body. Guess what, nothing going to stop me riding pennyfarthing, hence came up with this idea of recreating the same century ride at where I live. With the kind permission from the event organiser, I have added an element of fundraising for Westmead Childern's Hospital as well.

Date:     February 11th 2017

Venue:  Parramatta Park

Starting Time:    7:00 am

Who am I? My name is Gokulan Gopal and I love riding penny-farthing bikes. I have been visiting Evandale, Tasmania for penny-farthing races since 2011 and completed century ride 3 times.

While I do the hard work on the penny-farthing bike, challenging myself to complete 162kms within 12 hours, YOU can choose to support this event by donating a tiny amount of your choice.
